Regardless of who the leader is, the game will end if they are KO'd and not healed, and they will be revived by Carbuncle on Easy mode.
Unlike Noctis, who must learn Impervious on the Ascension, his three allies all have an innate version with a more lenient window that can activate more reliably from different attacks.
Impervious negates damage taken, and status ailments inflicted, from individual attacks by timing a phase-button press just after.
While controlling someone, however, the other three party members will not use Impervious. Only the leader can take damage from long falls, though they won't be knocked into Danger.
Noctis with the Sword of the Tall. Noctis can use any weapon and switch between four pre-set weapons on-the-fly on the D-pad.
The weapon loadout can be changed any time from the menu. One-handed swords, royal arms, the Ring of the Lucii, and the Cerberus sniper rifle are exclusive to Noctis.
Royal arms cost HP per landed hit parries do not cost HP , but have unique movesets, warp-strikes, and deal "special" typeless damage that few enemies resist, making them good against various tough daemons that resist most forms of damage.
Some accessories are exclusive to Noctis. These are:. Noctis is the team's angler for the fishing minigame.
Fishing requires lures and rods and reels. The player cab catch various fish from various fishing spots , and some of the fish unlock new recipes and can be cooked at camp by Ignis.
Some recipes earned from fishing provide extremely helpful effects, from Tide Grouper Carpaccio conferring Deathproof to Golden Tail Soup boasting the highest HP Regen effect and bestowing the critical-hit-dealing Clairvoyant effect.
Noctis levels up his fishing skill by catching fish. Leveling up reinforces the durability of the line and gives discounts at tackle shops.
Fishing can also be a source of AP, especially if the Sportfisher ability is unlocked. Noctis favors home-cooked meals and comfort foods; due to his dislike of vegetables, he prefers prepared meat dishes and recipes that mask the taste of vegetables well.
He often enjoys recipes that can be only made by hunting monsters, spending a money at markets, progressing in sidequests , and investing in fishing.
Noctis likes hot sandwiches, sauteed freshwater fish, donburi , and decked out fruit-seasoned cakes.
His favorites will come along as the player goes through the game at their pace, and are the least complicated in terms of ingredients.

Near the end of Noctis's journey, his friends note his increased confidence, and he has become more stern and resolute.
He has learned to take on the responsibilities of his position, and does so without hesitation. Noctis dislikes vegetables, much to Ignis's displeasure, who tries to encourage a healthy diet.
Noctis and Prompto share a distaste for bugs and a love for animals, especially pets and chocobos. Noctis seems unaware that Iris has a crush on him, though obvious to everyone else.
Noctis is also apparently a reckless driver, as implied by Ignis's nervous reaction to Noctis driving the Regalia over to the Disc of Cauthess.
As the heir to the throne of Lucis, Noctis can wield the power of kings, and those he associates with share into some of his power.
However, due to his childhood injury, he can't reach the full potential of his powers. Weapons manifest to his use from thin air, and only he can wield the crystalline royal arms of his forebears; the power to wield all of these weapons at once is called Armiger , during which he is empowered by the souls of his ancestors.
He can warp over short distances and phase through solid matter, powers that he can use in combat. He can collect elemental power from the environment and craft spells that those with him can also gain access to, but his true magical power is harnessed via the mythical Ring of the Lucii that allows the wearer to wield the power of the Crystal itself in exchange for the user's own life force.
Noctis is the one powering the party's potions and elixirs so they have healing properties —without him, they would be just regular soda.
The kings of Lucis have forged covenants with the Astral gods of Eos , and once Noctis does so, he becomes able to call forth the Astrals to aid him.
With the Ring of the Lucii, Noctis learns three unique and powerful spells. Noctis is an excellent combatant, using all the weapons in his disposal with proficient skill.
He is good at synchronizing with other skilled fighters to perform powerful link-strikes. After becoming the vessel for the Crystal's power, Noctis gains the power of Providence, noted to surpass even the might of the Astrals.
He can use it by sitting on the throne and summoning the Lucii to him to enter the realm in-between afterlife and the mortal realm, taking the royal arms into "the beyond" within his very body.
Noctis Lucis Caelum is th in the line of Lucis, and heir apparent to the royal throne. Chosen by the Crystal in the tender age of 5 to one day serve as the vessel for its power and the savior who would purge the scourge of the stars.
When Regis heard Aulea was suddenly entering into labor, he and Cor Leonis —the marshal of the Crownsguard and Regis's friend—dropped everything, and raced the Regalia to the hospital in such a manner they damaged the car.
Regis was elated at Noctis's birth, but Aulea died when Noctis was still an infant. Two years later King Regis learned from the spirits of the old kings that his five-year-old son is the Chosen King prophesied to sacrifice himself to save the world.
As depicted in Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV , when he was eight years old, Noctis was the victim of the daemon Marilith , implied to have been unleashed upon them by Niflheim, the empire that has been at war with Lucis for hundreds of years.
The servants who accompanied him perished while Noctis was gravely injured, but he was saved by Regis and his attendees. As depicted in Platinum Demo — Final Fantasy XV , Noctis went into a coma and retreated into a dream world where he came under the protection of Carbuncle , a magical creature who helped him fend off attacks from an unknown force attempting to keep him from waking up.
Afterward Noctis spent time in the country of Tenebrae recovering, where he befriended the young Princess Lunafreya: while their time together was short they bonded and she showed Noctis a red notebook they would come to use for secret correspondence, using her magical dog Umbra as a messenger.
Noctis learned about the Crystal of Lucis and how his father is its sworn protector from Lunafreya, who explained he is the Crystal's chosen to banish the plague of darkness from the world.
Noctis promised to do it, although he didn't understand what was asked of him. Noctis also met Gentiana , the mysterious High Messenger of the gods who stays by Lunafreya's side.
Gentiana was pleased the future king of Lucis would have such a close relation to the Oracle. Though he tried to also take Lunafreya, she opted to stay behind with her brother, Ravus , who was already captured.
From that time on Noctis and Lunafreya could no longer see each other, although they kept in secret contact via Lunafreya's magical dogs.
Noctis never fully recovered from the attack from Marilith. When a king of Lucis dies, their soul comes to reside inside the family heirloom, the Ring of the Lucii, which allows one to use the Crystal's power and is inherited by the person next in line for the throne.
However, using the ring saps the user of their life force. Regis was doomed to age prematurely due to his life energy being needed to maintain the Wall around Insomnia, the Crown City.
Regis is conflicted about whether to put such a burden on Noctis. As depicted in Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV , despite being royalty, Noctis attended a regular school where he met a boy named Prompto, whom Lunafreya had advised to seek Noctis's friendship as he hadn't mingled much with his peers.
Gladiolus was his tutor for battle skills since early age, although the two did not initially get along, Gladiolus viewing him spoiled.
The two befriended after a ten-year-old Noctis saved Gladiolus's younger sister Iris from getting lost and took the blame for wandering outside the palace grounds even if he had only been following Iris to make sure she didn't get hurt.
When Noctis was fifteen he moved to live alone to gain more independence and entered high school , and he and Prompto became friends.
Although Noctis did well in his exams, graduating as top of his class, he struggled with the pressures of being the future king and the prospect of his father dying.
To keep such pressures off his mind, he lived his youth like a general citizen for his age, including taking up a part time job at a sushi restaurant.
At age 20, Noctis sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states through his marriage to Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.
Accompanying Noctis are his friends—Ignis, his royal advisor; Gladiolus, his bodyguard ; and Prompto, his best friend from high school.
As depicted in Final Fantasy XV Prologue Parting Ways , Noctis tried to meet Regis the day before they left, but the king was too busy with the treaty-signing preparations.
Lucis was to relinquish all territories outside Insomnia to the empire in exchange for peace. Regis knew it to be a trap, and didn't tell Noctis of the true reason he is being sent away from the city with his friends, hoping Noctis would one day understand his reasons.
The four head toward Altissia so Noctis can marry Lunafreya to solidify relations between their countries as a political union.
Regis sees them off with a heavy heart at the steps of the Citadel. On their way across Leide , Regalia, Regis's car the party is using, breaks down.
The party pushes it to the nearest service station, Hammerhead , where they meet the mechanic Cindy and her grandfather Cid , Regis's old comrade.
Cid recognizes Noctis and assures them the car can be fixed but it will take time, leaving the party stranded for the time being.
Though knowing Noctis is the prince, Cid doesn't act respectfully, implying he doesn't think Noctis is ready to become the king. Cindy handles the repairs, and the party is left to make the money to pay her.
Once the repairs are done, the party heads to the port town of Galdin Quay where they hope to take a ferry to Altissia. However, the ferry is not running.
They meet a mysterious stranger who acts flippantly and gives them an Oracle Ascension Coin as "allowance.
The party learns that Niflheim has attacked the Crown City , the Wall has fallen and the empire has stolen the Crystal.
Noctis and his father are reported dead alongside Lunafreya. They turn back, but a blockade prevents them from reaching the city.
They find a high vantage point to see it from a distance, and receive a call from Cor Leonis as to the state of affairs. Noctis learns that the news of the king being dead are true, and Cor helps him get started on his quest of retrieving the legendary weapons of Lucis's past rulers.
After opening the road to Duscae , Cor deems Noctis strong enough to continue on his mission without his help, and departs.
Iris calls Noctis to tell him she's made it to the town of Lestallum , and they decide to go see her.
On the way there they have an option of visiting the Meteor of the Six said to have fallen to Eos eons ago, but if they try they are repelled by imperial forces.
With little recourse and Noctis's duty to his country, the party resumes its trip to Altissia in hopes that she headed there, however, the ferry is still out of commission.
Noctis is tipped off on a royal tomb being hidden in the cavern behind a waterfall , and his party heads to retrieve it. Noctis begins to experience sudden headaches and bizarre visions as the Archaean Titan is calling for him.
The Disc of Cauthess area where Titan resides, said to be holding the meteorite, is locked down by the empire, but Ardyn Izunia , the mysterious stranger they had met in Galdin Quay revealed to be the chancellor of Niflheim, opens the way for them.
Noctis comes before the Astral as imperial forces storm in and try to destroy the god. Noctis has a vision of Lunafreya communing with Titan, and forms a covenant with him, gaining the ability to summon him.
Surrounded by imperial forces, Ardyn helps Noctis's party escape the site. Though Ardyn has been helping them, Noctis does not trust him.
Lunafreya is seeking to rouse the gods of Eos, known as the Six, who have been slumbering since the War of the Astrals and said to awaken only for the time of the prophecy.
Noctis receives a message from her via Umbra, in which she lends her support to his cause. Duscae is shrouded in a storm until Noctis passes Ramuh's trial and gains the means to summon him.
Noctis is guided by Gentiana who communicates with him telepathically, directing him what he needs to do to gain the gods' favor.
Upon acquiring Ramuh's power, Noctis and his retinue infiltrate the nearby imperial base to recover the missing Regalia.
After fighting through the magitek armors and soldiers at the base, Noctis is confronted by Ravus Nox Fleuret before he can reach the car.
Ravus is Lunafreya's brother and now the high commander of Niflheim's army. Ravus berates Noctis for his obliviousness on the consequences of forming covenants with gods and is about to battle them, but Ardyn intervenes, withdraws the army and reminds Ravus he needs to head off to Altissia.
With the Regalia recovered, the party returns to Lestallum. When they meet Iris back at the hotel, she reveals that the imperial general Caligo Ulldor attacked Lestallum and the Amicitia family chamberlain, Jared Hester , was killed defending Iris.
His grandson Talcott is traumatized and Noctis expresses his sorrow for his loss. During the night, Noctis dreams of following Lunafreya's dog Pryna while encountering various terrors.
Noctis and the party escort Iris to Cape Caem , but on their way discover the empire has set up yet another "flying fortress" near Old Lestallum.
With Ignis's help, Noctis incapacitates General Caligo, but he escapes before they can exact revenge for the killing of Jared.
As he leaves the base, Noctis is ambushed by Commodore Aranea Highwind , whom Caligo spoke of in distrust. After a brief fight she leaves.
Noctis continues to Cape Caem, where the Hammerhead crew is busy working on Regis's old ship, which will grant them passage to Altissia.
They stay at Iris and Talcott's new house by the sea, where Talcott reveals that there is still mythril ore that can be used to repair the ship at Vesperpool.
Gladiolus goes off on his own to contemplate the recent events. Noctis, Ignis, and Prompto slip into the empire-held area with Ardyn's help although they cannot fathom why an imperial official is helping them.
They venture to find the ore under the supervision of Aranea whom Ardyn "hired" to escort Noctis. She guides them through a submerged temple , an anomaly created by ancient magic of Solheim.
Through her, Noctis learns that the bulk of the empire's military force is powered by daemons, creatures that lurk in the depths of caves and emerge during the darkest hours of the day.
Aranea is concerned over the direction the regime is taking. After securing the mythril, Aranea wishes Noctis well, advising him to choose his own path in life.
Noctis and his party return to Lestallum where Noctis teams up with a hunter to rid the local power plant of daemons who turns out to be Gladiolus.
Noctis and his friends make their way to Altissia on King Regis's royal vessel. During the trip they discuss the news of Ravus being the high commander of the imperial army, and him holding King Regis's sword , although he cannot wield it as he is not of the Lucian line.
Noctis feels ambivalent, but believes he'll be able to reclaim the sword from Ravus. While in Altissia, Noctis negotiates with the First Secretary Camelia Claustra to let Lunafreya rouse Leviathan , but doesn't get to see the latter, as she is being held for her safety.
Lunafreya gives a speech to the masses about her desire to wake the Hydraean and to help banish the growing darkness.
The world is plagued by a phenomenon known as the Starscourge that lengthens the nights, but the line of the Oracles—of which she is the latest—has the power to fight this darkness.
Noctis undertakes Leviathan's trial, who goes berserk despite Lunafreya's efforts to calm her. Lunafreya calls upon the spirits of the past kings of Lucis to aid Noctis who battles Leviathan with the power of kings until Titan interferes and Leviathan is calmed.
Amid Noctis's battle, Ardyn stabs Lunafreya and Noctis is powerless to help her. After the battle a weakened Noctis is left lying on the ruined Altar of the Tidemother.
A mortally wounded Lunafreya crawls to Noctis and heals him. The two converse in a dreamlike realm, the prince sad he could not save her.
She passes the Ring of the Lucii to him, which she had been holding for him as per King Regis's final request.
While Noctis is unconscious, he unknowingly is threatened by Ardyn, but saved by Ignis who lends power from the Ring of the Lucii to fend him off at the cost of his eyesight.
Noctis awakens days later to learn of Lunafreya's passing from a now blind Ignis. Ignis asks Noctis to reconsider their journey, but Noctis refuses to give up, saying that all the sacrifices made for him would be meaningless if he did not continue.
Noctis and his team carry on to Gralea , the capital of Niflheim, to regain the Crystal the empire has stolen. They travel through the continent on train , and though now in possession of the ring of his ancestors, Noctis refuses to wield its power.
This angers Gladiolus, who sees Noctis's struggle to deal with his grief as a sign he is not ready for the task upon them. After retrieving the Katana of the Warrior, another of the royal arms, Ignis speaks up to heal the rift that has formed between the companions, and Noctis remains determined to push on.
Their train is attacked by imperial forces, and amid the chaos Noctis is tricked by Ardyn to push Prompto off the moving train and Noctis realizes Ardyn wields supernatural powers.
They are unable to go back to him and assume Prompto has been captured by the empire. They stop at Tenebrae and find the Fenestala Manor aflame as revenge by the empire; Ravus is reported to have been executed for high treason for the Leviathan incident, and thus the bloodline of the Oracles has ended.
Without Lunafreya holding back the darkness, sunlight has almost vanished from the world with ever more daemons spawning. As they speculate that the Crystal has the power to repel the daemons, Noctis is even more desperate to seek it out.
Aranea has quit the imperial army and is now helping the victims of the empire's attacks with Biggs and Wedge. As the passage to imperial territory is dangerous, Noctis, Gladiolus and Ignis head to Gralea without the other passengers with Biggs and Wedge operating the train.
While in Tenebrae, Noctis learns Ravus had always been on Lunafreya's side even though he had been affiliated with the empire.
As they come into the territories outside the imperial capital, they find Ghorovas Rift covered in a blizzard.
As daemons spawn to halt the train at Shiva's corpse, Noctis meets Ardyn again and demands to know what his gambit is, but the latter is frozen by Gentiana who reveals her true identity as the Astral goddess Shiva.
Shiva tells Noctis the history of the Astrals and asks Noctis to set her love, god of fire Ifrit , free from being enthralled to the darkness.
Shiva makes Lunafreya's love for Noctis known to him and Noctis forges a covenant with her, obtaining the Trident of the Oracle as a royal arm.
Noctis vows that he and Luna will be together again, regretting he never had the chance to tell her how he feels. He learns Ardyn is immortal and all their attacks on him are ineffective.
Pondering what Ardyn's true nature is, the party continues onward to Gralea with the knowledge that Prompto is held captive there along with the Crystal.
Noctis, Ignis and Gladiolus enter Gralea by train but fall under attack and have to abandon the train with the belief that Biggs and Wedge can look after themselves.
Noctis drives the Regalia into the city, but the car is destroyed and he becomes separated from his friends. He continues alone but finds he cannot summon his weapons to his side as his powers have been sealed.
With Ardyn's taunting voice in his ears, Noctis decides to wield the Ring of the Lucii and blasts the daemons and magitek troops that spawn around him with magic.
The imperial city is devoid of human life and swarming with daemons. The magitek troopers at the lab the Crystal is said to be kept in have gone rogue.
Ardyn's disembodied voice keeps tormenting him as Noctis discovers the empire has been manufacturing daemons, that magitek troopers are made out of imperial experiments with clones, and that a "vanishing disease" has ravaged the imperial lands that has its citizens turn into daemons the empire cannot control.
Noctis finds Ravus dead and recovers his father's sword. He is reunited with Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto.
The bust is asymmetrical. The gown comes with a pair of matching fingerless evening gloves. Her wedding ring is black with small diamonds or crystals around the front.
She wears the hair pin Nyx Ulric had given to her, courtesy of Crowe Altius , from the events of Kingsglaive , and a necklace that features a star on either side of a crescent moon pendant.
She later wears a dark version of the dress she had in Altissia, with her right arm being disfigured from the bicep down with daemonic burns.
Her final look is how she appears in the game's logo. I do not fear death. What I fear is doing nothing and losing everything.
She is a noble and dutiful woman who talks about her hopes and dreams and acts on her own initiative. She is always cordial and polite to those around her, but is also a political strategist who puts her duties and the well-being of her people above her own needs.
She focuses on the future and works to prevent the world from plunging into complete darkness. Befitting of her duties as Oracle, Lunafreya possesses unparalleled compassion.
Lunafreya and Noctis have a complicated relationship. They are childhood friends, but are being made to marry to bring their kingdoms together.
Lunafreya loves Noctis who doesn't have the confidence to respond, although he thinks highly of her and grows to return her love. She's is one of the most important presences that supports Noctis for him to fulfill his destiny.
She holds King Regis in the highest regard and doesn't blame him for what happened to Tenebrae, unlike her brother Ravus.
She trusts her brother despite him serving the empire. She is devoted to the Astrals and their will, although in The Dawn of the Future she was not privy to the full scale of Bahamut's plan and rebels against him.
She enjoys tea and growing flowers. The first page of the notebook shared between her and Noctis displays an ageless sylleblossom carefully pressed into the paper.
A household servant mentions to Noctis how Lunafreya would personally water the flowers, cultivating a wide, beautiful field of sylleblossoms that spreads across the lands of Tenebrae.
There are many different levels of formal Japanese, and she uses the most respectful forms. The only exception is when she speaks with Leviathan, where she uses more commanding and somewhat rougher language.
While it can be used to mean "you" in a general sense, there are many more connotations attached to it, such as a romantic connotation.
If you know of any who are bedridden, or unable to come to me Pray, send word, and I I follow my calling. I will not halt my steps for anything else.
Lunafreya is an Oracle who prevents the plague Starscourge from advancing via her powers and presence. The plague makes daylight vanish from the world, and she prevents the world of Eos from plunging into an eternal night.
As the Oracle she has the power to heal those affected by the plagues of darkness, and people travel long distances to be seen by her.
She works tirelessly to help any who seek her out, and she is highly revered by all across Eos. She can commune with the gods of Eos, the Astrals.
The famous trident she wields is said to be a ritual tool bestowed upon the first Oracle by the Astral god Bahamut. Lunafreya and her older brother Ravus were once royalty of Tenebrae and were close allies with the royal family of Lucis.
When she was born, Lunafreya was met by the High Messenger of the Astrals, Gentiana , who in time would tell her she is ordained to work with Prince Noctis of Lucis to bring light back to the world.
Lunafreya and Noctis are childhood friends, and the memories they share are cherished by both. The two spent time together following Noctis's near-death experience with a marilith , when a twelve-year-old Lunafreya kept him company while he was recuperating.
During his stay Noctis referred to her as "Luna," and the abbreviation stuck. During this time, she told Noctis about the Crystal of Lucis and how his lineage had been chosen by the gods to expel the plague of darkness from the world.
Though the eight-year-old Noctis did not understand what it meant, he promised her he would do it. She showed Noctis her red notebook and the pressed sylleblossom within, telling Noctis the flowers are used to weave the royal family's crowns.
The two would continue to keep in secret contact via her dog, Umbra, that acts as a magical Messenger. Niflheim invaded Tenebrae and killed many officials of the royal family, including Lunafreya's mother, Queen Sylva, who was also the Oracle.
While fleeing from imperial forces with Regis and Noctis, Lunafreya chose to stay behind as not to slow him down, and Tenebrae was surrendered to Niflheim's control.
She was held in captivity, so it is implied she had a rough childhood. As the sole remaining descendants of House Fleuret, Lunafreya and Ravus remain leaders of their homeland, now an imperial protectorate.
When she was thirteen she entered into a covenant with Shiva , Gentiana's true form. When she returned, she had a handkerchief around her injured leg that read " Prompto ".
Gentiana suggested they find out Prompto's identity. Lunafreya sent Prompto a letter thanking him for saving Pryna and for being a friend to Noctis, prompting Prompto to self-improve and to befriend the prince.
When Lunafreya was sixteen, she became the youngest Oracle in history under supervision from the empire, and began to travel the lands to heal people with her powers.
As told in Final Fantasy XV -The Dawn of the Future- , her training for the post included physical fitness—including spearmanship—meditation, singing, dancing, fasting, visiting statues of previous Oracles and spending days in isolation.
Twelve years after the invasion of Tenebrae, the Niflheim Empire offers peace terms to Lucis; as part of these terms Lunafreya is to be betrothed to Noctis.
The terms are accepted and the wedding is planned to be held in Altissia. She publicly supports the peace treaty in a radio broadcast, and promises that her marriage will not hinder her duties as the Oracle even though her travels will be temporarily suspended until the wedding.
The plan goes awry when Lunafreya is caught leaving by Ravus and a squad of magitek soldiers , and they force her to return to her room.
Lunafreya greets Regis warmly, though Noctis and his friends have already departed to Altissia. At the party in Caelum Via before the signing, she learns from Nyx that the Kingsglaive soldier sent to escort her was killed.
She expresses remorse and receives a hairpin from Nyx that had been intended for Crowe to give to her. Later that night she is confronted by General Glauca , who asks her if she really thought that the peace treaty was real.
Glauca imprisons her on a fleet of airships outside the borders of Insomnia. The Kingsglaive arrive to rescue her, but Lunafreya's kidnapping was a trap for them; many of their body are traitors.
Nyx escorts her to safety on a hijacked airship after escaping Ultros , a daemon unleashed upon them. The imperials steal the sacred Crystal, and Lunafreya insists on returning to the Citadel against Nyx's advise to escape.
Resolved to reach King Regis, she leaps off the airship and is caught by Nyx who reluctantly follows her. The two arrive at the throne room to find Regis in combat with Glauca.
Glauca removes the Ring of the Lucii from Regis and Ravus, who had remained behind to take his revenge on Regis, puts it on.
The ring is a Lucian royal heirloom that contains the collective powers and wisdom of each Lucian monarch and grants its immense power only to those it deems worthy.
Ravus is burned when the ring rejects him. Nyx, Lunafreya, and Regis escape, and Regis gives the ring to her to pass on to Noctis.
Regis erects a magical barrier between them despite her pleas to not leave them. Regis requests Nyx to protect her and the two watch on helplessly as Glauca kills Regis.
Nyx and Lunafreya flee while being pursued by Niflheim forces. Nyx discovers he can no longer use magic as the result of the king's death, and soon realizes that Niflheim is using Lunafreya's hairpin to track their whereabouts.
She picks up the tracer Nyx drops and tosses it into a machine that explodes. The two arrive at a rendezvous point with plans to meet with the Kingsglaive leader, Titus Drautos.
They are accosted by one of the traitorous Kingsglaive, Luche Lazarus. She reluctantly tricks Lazarus into putting on the ring to gain its power, and takes it back from his burning corpse.
Drautos arrives, but another former Kingsglaive member, Libertus Ostium , rams him with a car, forcing Drautos to reveal himself as Glauca.
To fend off the powerful imperial commander, Lunafreya readies to put on the ring until Nyx stops her and puts it on himself. After being deemed worthy to wield the ring by the past kings of Lucis , Nyx orders Libertus to get Lunafreya out of the city.
The Ring of the Lucii returns to her care after Nyx receives its powers. Nyx remains behind to battle Glauca while Libertus escapes with Lunafreya.
They part ways on the outskirts and Lunafreya blends in with the refugees, meeting Gentiana and her dogs outside the city.
She expresses silent relief that Noctis still lives upon finding their notebook on Umbra. En route to his destination, Noctis is shocked to learn that Insomnia has fallen and that his father and his betrothed are believed dead.
In truth, she escaped Niflheim's conquest of Lucis, and lets Noctis know she is fine via a message delivered by Umbra.
She appears in Noctis's visions when he confronts the Astrals, the gods of Eos, also referred to as the Six. Noctis learns that she is rousing the Six, speaking to the Astrals on his behalf so that he can forge covenants with them and gain their power.
Ravus becomes the high commander of the Niflheim army after Glauca's death. He is ordered to hunt down his sister, but ignores the orders.
Instead, he helps Lunafreya escape Lucis back to Tenebrae. Ravus disagrees with her mission to help Noctis reclaim his throne, not believing Noctis is worthy of her sacrifice, as communing with the gods is making her ill.
He talks with her on her field of sylleblossoms, imploring her to stop sacrificing herself for Noctis, whom he believes will not be able to fulfill the prophecy as the King of Light.
She asserts that it is ordained that Noctis is the Chosen King, and that Ravus of all people should know this as he was personally judged by the Lucian kings of old and rejected.
Ravus accuses her of throwing her life away, but Lunafreya asserts it is her choice. Lunafreya is sad the carefree days of their childhood are over, and all she sees ahead of them is more darkness.
She is heartbroken she can't share her life with Noctis like they had dreamed, but Gentiana comforts her and promises to make her feelings known to Noctis in time.
She makes her way to Altissia where the sea goddess Leviathan resides. She is sheltered by the local government, although Niflheim wants them to release Lunafreya to them.
Ravus is in Altissia as well, and when they meet she asks him to take the ring to Noctis, but he tells her it is her mission.
When she informs him that her flesh is failing her, Ravus insists that she must fulfill her calling and that, although she may no longer have the strength to complete her duty, she has the willpower to find the strength.
He encloses the ring in her hand and comforts her. Altissia is where Lunafreya and Noctis were supposed to have gotten married, and her wedding dress is on display as a memorial to her.
Noctis makes his way to Altissia and negotiates with the first secretary for Altissia to let Lunafreya perform the ritual to rouse the Leviathan.
He succeeds, and though Niflheim soldiers approach her as she receives the Trident of the Oracle, she brushes their weapons aside and makes a public appearance to address the masses.
She gives a speech where she explains that the world is being encroached by darkness, and that she will perform a rite of summoning.
Noctis is among the crowd and is moved by her speech. The empire attacks and disrupts the summoning. Lunafreya beckons to Leviathan, but her words do not reach the angered Astral who tries to devour her.
Lunafreya repels Leviathan with the magic of the Trident of the Oracle to convince her to at least test Noctis, who is caught amid the chaos.
As she grips to Ardyn's arm, her healing powers activate, as he is tainted by the powers of darkness. He casts her aside and departs.
Lunafreya summons the power of the kings of old to aid Noctis via the Oracles' trident, really one of the thirteen royal arms.
Noctis fights Leviathan with the power of kings and wounds her. When the Astral god Titan appears to oppose Leviathan, Lunafreya shields an unconscious Noctis from the tidal wave.
Lunafreya speaks to Noctis in a dream world where she gives him the Ring of the Lucii. She disappears into the abyss, but promises to always watch over Noctis.
As her life fades, Ravus flies into a rage, but is quelled by Ignis. Ravus laments how the only thing he wanted was for Lunafreya to be happy and free to live a life of her own choosing, but knows her spirit will not rest until the prophecy has been fulfilled.
Her body disperses into light, and her spirit appears to Ravus who begs her not to leave, but she vanishes. The world proclaims her to be dead, unable to find her body.
When Noctis awakens days later, he learns she has died but that she had left him a message in the notebook.
On the last page he finds a pressed sylleblossom. Noctis continues his journey to the imperial heartland to salvage the Crystal whose light he believes will save the world.
When the train passes Shiva's corpse, Gentiana reveals her true identity as the Glacean to him. She bequeaths the Trident of the Oracle to him and delivers Lunafreya's feelings to him as she had promised.
Noctis learns how much she had loved him and experiences a ghostly vision of her that disappears as he reaches out to her.
When Noctis returns to Insomnia after his ten-year slumber, Lunafreya appears to him, and summons the Astrals to dispel the daemonic Wall Ardyn has erected over the Citadel.
As she touches Noctis she disappears. When Noctis fights Ardyn the latter taunts him by recalling that when he killed Lunafreya, Noctis had lain there powerless to prevent it.
Noctis fulfills the prophecy and banishes darkness from the world at the cost of his own life. When Noctis's spirit confronts Ardyn in the realm beyond , Lunafreya's spirit briefly aids Noctis as he and the spirits of the past Lucian kings prepare to deliver the final blow.
Wearing her wedding dress, she appears with Noctis at the Lucian throne. King Regis congratulates the two after thanking Lunafreya for her efforts and declares them man and wife.
After looking at the photo given to her by Noctis, Lunafreya kisses him and closes her eyes, preparing to sleep alongside Noctis.
If Ignis decides to follow Ardyn to Zegnautus Keep after their encounter in Altissia, a mysterious voice tells him about the prophecy that must be fulfilled to cleanse the world of Starscourge.
The "mysterious voice" has Lunafreya's voice actress, but whether it is her is unknown. In this alternate ending Ignis chooses Noctis over the world and it appears the prophecy remains unfulfilled.
Ghostly sylleblossom petals swirl by Ignis who is healed of his injuries even though he had offered his life as sacrifice to save Noctis, implying Lunafreya's influence.
Ardyn accumulates power too great for the True King to purge with the Ring of the Lucii, and Bahamut decides to go forth with his original plan of destroying Eos.
